Big Bang space mission delayed
Officials have delayed next month's scheduled launch of a rocket carrying a space telescope and a spacecraft to gather information about the Big Bang cosmic explosion.
Arianespace and the European Space Agency said they have agreed on the delay to allow further fine-tuning following recent software updates.
The launch from the Spaceport in Kourou in French Guiana had been planned for April 16.
A new date will be announced in late March.
The Ariane 5 rocket is to carry a European Space Agency space telescope and the Planck spacecraft.
The Herschel telescope will study the formation of stars and galaxies, while Planck is to gather data on remaining radiation from the Big Bang.
