SUV ploughs into crowd outside New York City restaurant - several hurt
UP to four people have been injured when a car mounted a pavement and mowed them down in Manhattan, New York.
The incident happened at 2.30pm local time (7.30pm Universal Time) on Sixth Avenue in a busy business distract in the city.
The car was an SUV and jumped the curb before ploughing into Korean BBQ restaurant Gogi Grill.
Emergency services are on the scene treating those injured.
Police have closed Sixth Avenue and nearby 17th Street while they investigate.
Social media users flocked to the internet to express their concern over the incident.
Whitney Gayle Benta said: “There was terrible accident by my job. A navigator plowed into the Gogi Grill restaurant. Hope Everyone is okay.”
Images taken at the scene show people laying on the floor and drinks knocked over in the immediate aftermath of the crash.
Bystanders can be seen giving comfort to those injured while police cordon the black vehicle off with yellow police tape as a huge crowd gather.
Gogi Grill is located in the distact of Chelsea.
