VERA star Ibinabo Jack, who plays DC Jac Williams in the hit ITV drama, has opened up about landing a new role away from the Brenda Blethyn series.
Vera: Construction worker gets hit by a lorry
Ibinabo Jack joined the Vera cast in 2018 and has played DC Jac Williams ever since. DC Williams is usually found doing the background work for DCI Stanhope (played by Brenda Blethyn) and her sidekick Aiden Healy (Kenny Doughty) along with her ITV co-star Riley Jones, who plays DC Mark Williams. However, in an exclusive interview with Express.co.uk, the actress has spoken out about a new TV role.
Despite her hectic work schedule filming for Vera, Ibinabo was able to fit in other TV work around the ITV series.
The actress, who recently landed a role in a children’s TV programme, explained the difficulty she faced while filming.
She went on to admit she had no idea how much energy is needed to work on children’s TV.
The star began: “When you watch kids' TV, I watch it with my nieces and nephews and it's so fun, bright and energetic and you kind of really take it for granted how much energy it takes.”

She continued: “Whereas with something like Vera there is a lot more sitting down, which is great. There is also a lot of emotional dialogue.
“But this is more presentational and keeping up the energy for pre-schoolers.
“Whenever I watch a kid’s show again, I'll be like, 'I know what they've gone through to produce this'.”
Recalling how tired she has felt while filming, Ibinabo admitted: “It's been exhausting.”
The Jac Williams star went on to add: “We are filming in Cardiff, it's absolutely lovely here and the people are really lovely.
“But it's just... I hate being away from home for long periods of time and I just need the rest afterwards.”
Filming for series 11 of the ITV drama was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This left fans disappointed as it meant there were delays to when the episodes would air.

The first two instalments aired last year, with the second two airing in January.
Fans can expect the final episodes of the Brenda Blethyn drama to air later this year.
Speaking about how the cast filmed during the pandemic, Ibinabo recalled: “So Riley and I were in a bubble together, so we could be close on camera.
“It was the same with Brenda and Kenny (Doughty), and fellow guest actors who were playing husband and wife and things like that.”
“But I don't know whether people noticed but the studio was made bigger so that we could sit further away from each other and it not be obvious,” the actress added.
The actor who plays Mark Edwards also recently opened up about the struggles the cast faced while filming during the pandemic.
Riley explained they had to think about the smallest of details including passing a piece of paper to one another.
He said: “You can't pass up a piece of paper because you can't sanitise it. We had to do a lot of camera trickery.”
Vera is expected to air on ITV later this year.
