During Thursday's hour-long instalment of Emmerdale, Jai Sharma (played by Chris Bisson) desperately tried to rescue his wife Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) from the clutches of Colin Hamston (Mark Noble).
However, fans were left baffled by how Jai returned from his adoptive father Rishi Sharma's (Bhasker Patel) funeral in India so quickly.
Taking to Twitter, Tam O'Driscoll penned: "Jai got to India and back, had Rishi's funeral there #Emmerdale, what took him, #DrWho phone box or Delorean?"
Steve quipped: "Breaking News: Jai hitchhikes home from India in a record hour #emmerdale."
Todd wrote: "Jai flew from India so quickly it seemed like he was only in Spain. #Emmerdale."
Dave remarked: "Jai’s back? Of course, India’s only a stone’s throw away. #Emmerdale."
Janey Brooke commented: "Didn't Jai only go to India the day before yesterday? That was a fleeting visit."
During the latest instalment, Colin held a terrified Laurel captive in his son Marshall Hamston's (Max Fletcher) bedroom.

However, it didn't take long before people came rushing to her side, with Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler) alerting the police.
Jai also caught the first flight back to the UK from India after heading off to Rishi's funeral earlier in the week.
Luckily, Laurel managed to escape from the awful ordeal after taking some sense into Colin.
As she jumped out of a police car to hug Jai who had returned to Emmerdale, he asked: "Are you alright? Did he hurt you?"
"I'm safe," Laurel replied to which Jai reassured her: "You are, you're safe now."
Emmerdale airs on weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV and ITVX.
