BBC Death in Paradise fans 'work out' return of 'angry' character after new DI confirmed
EastEnders star Don Gilet has been confirmed as the new lead detective on Death in Paradise and will replace Ralf Little.
Death in Paradise fans are pleading for the return of Camille Bordey (played by Sara Martins) who has made short cameos in the BBC series since she initially left the show. However, since Ralf Little's replacement was announced, fans would love to see Camille reunite with the new DI Don Gilet, who previously appeared in the series - but as a killer.
The seasoned 57-year-old actor will be introduced as Detective Inspector Mervin Wilson in an upcoming feature-length Christmas special, setting the stage for his full-time arrival in series 14, anticipated to air in 2025. However, as news of Don's casting broke, fans were quick to point out on social media that this isn't his first foray into the show's tropical climes.
Don previously graced the series with his presence back in 2015 during its fourth season, portraying the character Andre Morgan when Kris Marshall's Humphrey Goodman was at the helm of solving crimes in Saint Marie.
However, this is not the first time show bosses have done this because Ralf had also featured in the series as a red herring before taking on the role of DI.

DI Mervin is set to make a curveball entry from London to Saint Marie and finds it hard to adjust to his bizarre surroundings initially.
Speaking about the role, Don expressed: "Being offered the new lead role in Death in Paradise feels like a deeply loved and incredibly precious jewel has been placed in my hands."
"This is a big show, with a big heart and the love continually grows for it. It is my intention to never lose sight of that and to remain grateful, humbled, and dedicated."
"Even during those strenuous moments when every fibre of my being is screaming at me to bolt off the set and dive into the sea, a swimming pool, or knock back an ice-cold beer whichever is nearer at the time! ".
Ralf, the previous holder of the role for four years, graciously stepped down to let Don take on Neville Parker's character. Eager to show support, Ralf shared comments on the announcement made on the Death in Paradise Instagram page.
Showing camaraderie, Ralf conveyed: "Happy to hand the baton over," and "Have a wonderful time Don! It's a magical experience," teeming his message with red hearts, palm trees and skull emojis. Die-hard fans will remember this not being Ralf's premier role on the show.
Like Don, he had a previous stint on the show playing a different character. In 2013, he portrayed Will Teague in a single episode, only to return seven years later in the lead role of Neville.
Death in Paradise is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
