Jeremy Clarkson takes cryptic swipe at BBC in Clarkson’s Farm ‘Top Gear’ moment
Jeremy Clarkson made a cryptic swipe at the BBC in a Clarkson's Farm season 3 moment spotted by fans.
Eagle-eyed Clarkson’s Farm fans have spotted Jeremy Clarkson’s cryptic swipe at the BBC in the third season of his hit Amazon Prime Video farming show.
Clarkson rose to fame on Top Gear alongside co-stars Richard Hammond and James May, having masterminded the 2001 reboot of the motoring show for the BBC before selling the rights back to the corporation a few years before his contract was not renewed following a punch-up with a producer behind the scenes.
Clarkson, Hammond, and May then went to Amazon to launch a rival car show, The Grand Tour, before Amazon gave each of the trio another solo project, and Jeremy’s was Clarkson’s Farm.

But when The Grand Tour began, it was widely reported that the trio had been banned by the BBC’s lawyers from taking any element from Top Gear, including Jeremy, Richard and James’ catchphrases, as well as The Stig.
This is thought to be why all the test drivers always show their faces on The Grand Tour, and why ‘and on that bombshell’ was swapped for ‘and on that terrible disappointment’, among various other legally compliant changes.
Following the recent cancellation of Top Gear at the BBC, in Clarkson’s Farm series three episode two, Jeremy spent time building a ‘pig hotel’ with a telehandler in a field on his farm in preparation for his pig farming venture.
Jeremy then turned to viewers while sitting in the cab and said: “If there’s any pig farmers watching who wanna write in, mark your envelope, ‘yeah (sic) we were impressed as well, Diddly Squat Farm, Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire'.'”
Fans spotted this direct and cryptic reference to Top Gear, lampooning a segment Jeremy used to deliver to the camera almost every week.
In one Top Gear episode, Jeremy said; “If you know someone who’s more committed to the world of cars, write to us at ‘The only thing my ex-husband would service was his car, Top Gear BBC Television, 201 Wood Lane London’.
In another, he said: “So if you’d like to help us out, write to us at ‘I’m retired and I’d like to shoot a yellow box blocker in the face, Top Gear, BBC Television, 201 Wood Lane London’."
