Bosses of The 1% Club have finally responded to claims that a participant played dirty on the show. Jason Duckett, who was seen clutching his ear during the episode, made an appearance on the prime-time ITV programme alongside his wife, Rowena.

The quiz show, presented by comedian Lee Mack, involves squaring down 100 contestants until one lucky person walks away with a staggering £100,000.

Audiences raised eyebrows when "To which body part can you add one letter at the start to make it the word for the job it does?" was posed as a question, with "ear" being the answer to imply "hear".

This event coincided with Jason rubbing both his ears simultaneously.

However, Jason, a DJ, and his solicitor wife Rowena had been knocked out of the game before this suspicious incident occurred, reports the Mirror.

After the episode aired, social media was abuzz with speculation. One viewer wrote: "Did anyone else notice this guy giving away the answer when he touched both his ears?"

Another chimed in with: "Ear ear...think there was a wee bit of cheating going on in 1% Club."

"Bit naughty from Mr Duckett there rubbing his ear," commented another fan. Meanwhile, someone else observed: "Anyone else see the contestant on 1% club, rub his ears on the ear/hear question?"

And yet another post read: "On The 1% Club (ITV/UK, Saturday 25th May 2024), did anyone else notice the guy giving away the answer to the question when he touched both his ears? ".

Post-event, the Jason spoke out about the cheating allegations, telling The Sun: "I almost admire the creativity of someone to come up with that because I hadn't thought of that. There was nothing to gain for either of us.

"We were both out. Anything I was doing it was to just sort of calm myself. If you spin it, you could say my arms are folded. Was the answer harm and arm?"

A spokesperson for the show added: "Any game show worth its salt attracts conspiracy theories. But happily, initial inquiries quickly established that there were no grounds for suspicion."
