BGT: Alesha Dixon's shows off stunning purple outfit

Last week, ITV viewers saw the semi-finalists of Britain's Got Talent all take to the stage once again to try and earn a place in Sunday night’s grand finale. After all the contestants had performed, hosts Ant and Dec revealed the top three acts of the night.

The person with the highest number of votes automatically got sent through to the final. It was then up to the judges to decide who had earned the second spot.

However, fans of the show were quick to suggest that judge Alesha Dixon was casting her vote tactfully after noticing a pattern. For a few nights over the week, the show ended up having a split decision, meaning the second spot was given to the act who received the second number of highest votes.

With Alesha voting opposite to fellow judge Bruno Tonioli, viewers were less than impressed. Taking to Twitter, @truereddevil99 said: “Alesha Dixon should not be a BGT judge. She doesn’t vote for the best act, she just votes for the act Bruno does not vote for because she doesn’t want to vote for the best act. She’s done it all week.”

@ollieollieGA fumed: “Can we QUIT this ‘equaling out’ vote [sic]. You are there to JUDGE!!! lock them in BEFORE the other judges reveal their choice because the judges are there to JUDGE - the public vote should be the last resort okay.”

Another social media user commented: “Without trying to be too rude, what is the point in Alesha having a vote? The judges might as well not be there for semis #BGT.”

@RyanTheSoapking wrote: “Why does Alesha always decide to "Even the votes". Darling you vote for your favourite act - not the other act to make the vote fair

@pipjcee shared: “Once again Alesha chickens out for the vote “to even it out” and again Cowell takes it to deadlock! Just make a decision!”

With @roscoeleebarnes tweeting: “Alesha evening it out again. That is not how it works. This judge's vote is a shambles. This needs to be fixed.”

The backlash comes after the 45-year-old sang her latest single, Ransom, on Friday evening, along with some of her other hits.

When speaking to the judges about which acts they thought had performed well, it seemed as though Simon Cowell was blown away by Alesha’s performance.

He said: “First of all, I've got to talk about that performance by Alesha. That was seriously seriously good. I'm blown away and good for you, Alesha. That was really, really good.”

Although people were quick to spot that the routine wasn’t performed live, and was pre-recorded ahead of the semi-final episode.

Also on the night, ITV viewers saw Denise and Stefan, Trixy and Alex Mitchell earn the top three spots.

With Alex Mitchell winning the main vote, it came down to the judges to decide - with all but Bruno opting to save Trixy.

This means the magician will be joining the likes of Abigail & Afronita, Northants Sings Out, Jack Rhodes, Haribow, Innocent Masuku, Ssaulabi Performance Troupe, Mike Woodhams, and Sydnie Christmas.

Britain’s Got Talent is available to watch on ITVX.
