GMB: Richard Arnold jokes he'll 'leave' after Bridgerton quip

Good Morning Britain's showbiz reporter Richard Arnold was left red-faced after a hilarious gaffe on the programme, which led him to jokingly threaten to 'leave' the show. The amusing incident occurred on Wednesday 5 June, as Richard discussed the trailer for the second part of Bridgerton season three, focusing on the ongoing romance between Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington.

He began: "I have got to crash on, Martin as there are so many questions for you because we have a brand new clip of Bridgerton that we promised you yesterday and we couldn't quite get it as it was such a packed show.

"Season three, part two is almost upon us and fas have been stressfully waiting for the second half of season three to come out and yesterday Netflix sent everyone into a tizzy by releasing the trailer."

In a comical twist, Richard mistakenly referred to Penelope's pseudonym as "and just to wet your Ladydown Whistle'' - rather than Penelope's real pen name, Lady Whistledown. As Richard corrected himself, Susanna Reid couldn't help but laugh hysterically.

Richard quipped: "Well that's out there forever! " before jesting, "I'll leave now." Meanwhile, fellow presenters Susanna and Martin Lewis continued to chuckle off-camera.

Bridgerton fans were sent into a frenzy when the trailer for the second part of the current season was unveiled on Monday 3 June.

The next four episodes are set to be released on Thursday 13 June, promising plenty of drama.

The first half of the series saw Penelope finally unite with her lifelong friend, Colin. However, their budding romance seems to be under threat as Colin's sister and Penelope's ex-friend Eloise (played by Claudia Jessie) threaten to reveal Penelope's secret identity as Lady Whistledown.

The latest teaser for the second instalment of the series kicks off with the buzz of an engagement announcement, only for Eloise to corner Penelope and warn her: "Until he knows the real you, he cannot possibly love you."

Penelope is later overheard confessing to Eloise: "Colin cannot discover my secret. Whistledown is power."

The trailer tantalisingly suggests Colin is on the brink of uncovering the truth, as we see him puzzled by her ink-stained hands.

The clip concludes with a foreboding image of Penelope facing a grim-looking Colin, underscored by Dame Julie Andrews, the voice behind Lady Whistledown, declaring: "Gossip as I might, this author cannot tolerate a lie."

Bridgerton, famed for its intricate romantic plots peppered with steamy scenes, sees Nicola Coughlan's character delve into her own romantic narrative this season - a journey she wanted to be 'very naked' in.

In a candid chat with Stylist, Nicola Coughlan confessed: "I specifically asked for certain lines and moments to be included. "There's one scene where I'm very naked on camera, and that was my idea, my choice. It just felt like the biggest 'f**k you' to all the conversation surrounding my body; it was amazingly empowering."

Good Morning Britain airs weekdays at 6am on ITV.
