Loose Women’s Denise Welch confirms major family news in subtle swipe at Taylor Swift

Matty Healy isn't letting a supposed diss track from his ex put a halt on his love life.

The 1975 frontman and his new girlfriend sparked engagement rumours earlier this week when they both shared a cryptic post to their Instagram Stories.

And now Matty's mum, Loose Women panellist Denise Welsh has confirmed the news to be true and it turns out the couple have been engaged for "weeks".

After returning from the break, Christine Lampard announced there was some exciting breaking news before she exclaimed: "Congratulations to our Denise because you're soon to be the mother of the groom."

"I am," Denise confirmed with a wide grin on her face, as she continued: "I've obviously known for a few weeks that Matty got engaged but then they went over to see their friends Charlie and Georgia in New York and I woke up this morning to the fact that they put it on Instagram."

"So [they're] Instagram official," Denise gushed, as she revealed: "He's got engaged to Gabriella Bechtel, Gabriette she's known as, and it's with a Black Diamond. He had it made for her. And I couldn't be more thrilled,"

"She's from Los Angeles. She's absolutely gorgeous," the 66-year-old went on to share.

The 35-year-old musician's new girlfriend Gabbriette heavily hinted she is "marrying" the 1975 lead singer via an Instagram on Tuesday.

Matty was first linked to the model back in September 2023 shortly after his reported one-month-long fling with Taylor Swift.

Taking to her Instagram story, Gabbriette uploaded a snap of her hand placed over a woman's perky behind.

The raunchy pic had a deeper meaning as Gabbriette was wearing a black diamond ring on her wedding finger.

The model tagged Matty's Instagram account and penned: "MARRYING THE 1975 IS VERY B*** @trumanblack"

Matty reshared the post onto his own Instagram Story, fuelling rumours - which are now confirmed to be true - that they are planning to tie the knot.

This excitement comes on the heels of Taylor releasing her 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department.

Following the release many Swifties were adamant a number of the songs alluded to her and Matty's whirlwind relationship.

Taylor seemingly claps back at her fans for judging her romance with the rocker, who has caught heat for his controversial comments in the past, in her song called But Daddy I Love Him.

“I’ll tell you something right now / I’d rather burn my whole life down / Than listen to one more second of all this b****ing and moaning,” Taylor sings, noting that she’s unaffected by “vipers in pale dresses groaning.”

“God save the most judgmental creeps / Who say they want what’s best for me / Sanctimoniously performing soliloquies I’ll never see,” she quips. “Thinking they can change the beat of my heart when he touches me and counteract the chemistry?”

The 34-year-old megastar also seemingly refers to herself as Matty's “wild child” in the song, before joking that she’s pregnant with his baby, singing: “You should see your faces / Tore thru defences / No I’m not coming to my senses."
