The final series of Vera is currently in the process of filming, with the cast and crew preparing to 'take over' a Northumberland village.

Residents have been asked to relocate their vehicles and a road closure has been confirmed as a local resident prepares for a significant role.

Devoted fans of the long-standing ITV drama are still grappling with the news that they only have two more episodes to enjoy after it was announced in April that the show will conclude with two final feature-length episodes, set to broadcast in early 2025.

Filming commenced just a week after the announcement of Vera's conclusion, with lead star Brenda Blethyn and co-star David Leon first spotted on location in Cambois, Northumberland.

Since then, the Vera cast and crew have been sighted in various locations including Gateshead, Blyth, South Shields and Hartlepool.

Another filming location for series 14 has now been revealed, following a notice received by residents in Glanton about filming on Thursday.

The letter, which was shared on social media, informs locals that the ITV team will be in the village on Tuesday, June 25 and again on Friday, July 5.

Residents are being urged to help clear Front Street of parked cars during the filming period, which is set to kick off at 12pm on June 25 and then again at 8am on July 5.

The filming notice also reveals that local pub, The Queens Head, will feature prominently in the shoot, serving as the backdrop for what's being described as 'large crowd scenes.

This weekend, BAFTA winner Brenda will momentarily step away from her TV alter ego DCI Stanhope to inaugurate the festivities at the Charlotte Straker Summer House fete in Corbridge.

She's expected to meet a Vera super fan who has journeyed all the way from Australia in hopes of meeting the actress and author Ann Cleeves, as well as exploring the locations used in the drama over the years.

Brenda announced earlier this year she is hanging up her mack and hat after playing the role of Vera for over a decade.

The award-winning actress is set to make a special guest appearance at the Charlotte Straker House Summer Fete on Saturday in a career update.

The charity's website reads: "SPECIAL VIP GUEST: Brenda Blethyn, star of the hit TV crime series Vera, will be gracing us with her presence to officially open the festivities!

"We’re thrilled to welcome the renowned actress to our fete – don’t miss this chance to meet the star of Vera and support a fantastic cause."

Vera episodes are available to watch on ITVX.
