Channel 4: Suspect trailer with James Nesbitt
Channel 4 has released some first-look images for the second series of crime show, Suspect. The eight-part series focused on veteran detective Danny Frater (played by James Nesbitt) hellbent on uncovering the truth about his daughter's death.
Although actor James Nesbitt isn’t returning for the new series, it’ll focus on his character’s ex-wife and mother to their daughter, Dr Susannah Newman (Anne-Marie Duff). Picking up where the last season left off, Susannah is on a quest to get to the bottom of what really happened to Christina (Imogen King).
There will also be some new faces in for the eight-part drama including Death in Paradise star Ben Miller who plays Detective Superintendent Richard Groves. The likes of Tamsin Greig, Eddie Marsan, Vignette Robinson and Celine Buckens will all also star in the upcoming series.
A synopsis of what’s to come teases that there’s another life in danger as Susannah does her best to prevent another tragedy. It’s all after a mysterious new client called Jon (Dominic Cooper) makes a disturbing confession under hypnosis.
This throws Susannah’s life upside down as she’s forced to embark on her own deadly mission to try and save someone, the way she couldn't do with her own daughter. Although there’s yet to be an official release date, it’s confirmed Suspect will broadcast this summer.
Fans of the crime series will remember the final episode of season one had a dramatic end with an unexpected plot twist.
It featured James’ character adamant that Jackie Sowden (Joley Richardson) was the person who murdered his daughter.
After he learned that her body was cremated, destroying any evidence that could link Jackie to the crime, Danny was furious.
Alone with her in the kitchen, he took his opportunity to avenge his daughter by stabbing Jackie in the chest.

Arrested for killing her, Channel 4 viewers saw Danny hallucinate that Christina was in the police car with him.
Pleased that justice was done, he felt at peace as he told his daughter that it was all finally over.
However, in an expected twist, Christina told her dad that nothing was over before she disappeared.
Not sure what she meant, he shouted her name in the car, willing her to come back before the scene finished and the credits rolled.
Clearly, Danny hadn’t got the right person, meaning Christina’s killer is still out there while he is now forced to spend life behind bars.
When the cliffhanger first aired two years ago, viewers were eager to get a second series to get some more answers on the murder.
Will her mum finally be able to bring the right person to justice?
