Bridgerton star set to 'explore his sexuality' further as season four storyline confirmed
Netflix fans have recently been revelling in the return of popular period drama Bridgerton as the latest episodes just dropped - but viewers are already eager to know what's in store next.
Netflix viewers were thrilled as the latest episodes of Bridgerton recently dropped on the streaming platform.
Season 3, part two of the popular period drama landed last week - yet fans are already desperate to know what's in store next. There was a fresh twist in the most recent series as viewers watched Benedict Bridgerton (played by Luke Thompson) explore his sexuality.
Showrunner Jess Brownell has spilled the beans to TheWrap, confirming that despite this new development, Benedict's love interest, Sophie, from the novels by Julia Quinn is still on the horizon.
Brownell revealed: "The introduction of Sophie is definitely still in the cards, but we are going to continue to explore his fluidity."
In the third season, Benedict encounters a widow, Lady Tilley Arnold (Hannah New), who, despite her loss, is open to a casual liaison.

Charmed by Lady Tilley, Benedict dives into a passionate affair with her, only for things to take an unexpected turn when she suggests adding her friend, Paul Suarez (Lucas Aurelio), into the mix, reports the Daily Star.
Although hesitant at first, Benedict's curiosity gets the better of him as the plot thickens. The climax of Season 3 sees Tilley having a change of heart, proposing exclusivity to Benedict.
But, in a twist of fate, he turns down the monogamous relationship, driven by a desire to further explore his burgeoning sexual identity.
Brownell revealed to the publication: "This is not the end of that storyline. As any fluid person knows, fluidity is a part of your identity, whether or not you end up with a man, a woman or a nonbinary person."

The showrunner also suggested that Benedict's sexual identity isn't a "fixed belief" for him, and he could be considered pansexual in today's terms, as he connects with someone's spirit and mind.
In Julia Quinn's novels, Benedict encounters Sophie at a Bridgerton masquerade ball. Some book fans have expressed disappointment that she hasn't been introduced yet, however, her arrival in Season 4 could be imminent.
Brownell hinted: "At the end of Season 3, Eloise says to Benedict that she's going to be home in a few months for Violet's masquerade ball, so there will be a masquerade ball coming up shortly...I'll just leave it there."
Bridgerton was renewed for Season 4 in 2021, however, fans will have to wait more than two years for Benedict to meet his future wife.
