Good Morning Britain halted as Charlotte Hawkins makes 'breaking news' announcement
Charlotte Hawkins opened the news on Friday's edition of Good Morning Britain with some "breaking news" - but viewers were less than impressed by the announcement.
GMB: UK's recession recovery stronger than previously thought
Charlotte Hawkins delivered some "breaking news" on Friday's edition of Good Morning Britain, announcing to ITV viewers: "Good morning and starting with some breaking news."
"The UK's recovery from recession has been stronger than previously thought. The Office for National Statistics has issued revised growth figures for the first quarter and says that GDP rose by 0.7 percent between January and March and not at six percent as it had originally estimated."
The GMB Twitter account also posted a snippet of Charlotte's update, captioning it: "BREAKING NEWS." The tweet echoed Charlotte's words from the broadcast.
Social media users chimed in on the announcement, with one viewer commenting: "Good - but not great.", reports the Mirror.
Another remarked: "That's bigging up a 0.1% difference a bit too much there." A third called for scrutiny, posting: "Now none of us trust ONS. That's not right. We know that there's something very dodgy with managers in there. Investigation into them must be launched."

In another segment of the show, Andi Peters was deep in conversation with Charlotte on the couch when Kate Garraway interjected.
The enthusiastic presenter revealed that a fortunate viewer stood a chance to win an impressive £250,000 by entering the programme's competition.
Attempting to hand over to Andi, Kate found him preoccupied with his discussion with Charlotte. "Andi is so excited about the prize," she exclaimed.
"He's got up early. He's joining us in the studio. He's having a good old gossip with Charlotte Hawkins... ignoring us? " Kate remarked before she called out to catch his attention.
