Kit Harington as Jon Snow on Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones fans have been left distraught after watching the conclusion to season five of Game of Thrones.
In the closing scenes of the episode Mother's Mercy we saw fan favourite Jon Snow (Kit Harington) getting killed by his fellow brothers of the Night's Watch with little Olly (Brenock O'Connor) plunging the final dagger into his Lord Commander.
The death of Jon Snow has left viewers in shock with many sharing their distress about the moment on Twitter.
Jerry Manilag wrote: "I want to say, "I'm used to it". I want to say, "I expected it". But honestly, this one was really painful for me. #GameofThronesFinale".

While another user called Matt Murdock tweeted: "I don't have enough money for psychiatric help #GameofThronesFinale".
Bobby Lee reflected the feelings of many of fans by posting: "My God #GameofThronesFinale made me cry angry blood. Best show ever…".
A lot of the anger was directed at Olly, who appears to have now become even more hated than Joffrey and Ramsay Bolton.
While Jon Snow's death is likely to have filled the bulk of people's timelines, the concluding episode also featured a number of other twists that had fans talking.
Notably the death of Stannis (Stephen Dillane) was mentioned after he was killed by Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie).

Although Twitter was raging about his decision to kill his only child as a sacrifice to the Lord of Light at the behest of the Red Priestess Melisandre (Carice van Houten), some fans were disappointed by his death.
Jennifer Carney wrote: "I feel like I just wasted my life on Stannis Baratheon's storyline. #GameofThrones" and another fan tweeted: "lord, what they did to stannis' storyline this season. i preferred it when they forgot he existed."
There was also much love for Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), who took another name off her kill list in the most gory scene of the episode. As punishment from her mentor for "stealing" from the Many Faced God, Arya went blind.

Members of the audience praised the character for her brutal killing, in which she blinded her victim before stabbing him.
Sue the Fury tweeted: "Does it make me a sociopath if I experience intense joy whenever Arya stabs people?"
"I would consider having a child if I was 100% certain it would be Arya Stark," said Twitter user OhNoSheTwitnt.
The conclusion of season five has left the world on a massive cliff hanger as no one knows what to expect next.
Previously, fans could rely on George RR Martin's novels as a guides but the writer is still busy working on the sixth book, The Winds of Winter.
