The bookies' favourite was seen apologising to partner Aliona Vilani at the end of the routine after seemingly making a minor error in the performance, but that wasn't Craig's main problem.
"I found the whole thing a little bland," he snapped. "As soon as you begin to dance properly, the face goes dead."
Co-star Darcey Bussell angrily interjected: "Oh no way, no way."
Jay has been criticised for his acting in several of his dances, but the ballerina thought he had been improving.
The foxtrot scored a middling 30

She added: "There was such a story being told, finally. We are going to get really detailed now because your technique is outstanding."
Len Goodman then left fans baffled by referencing one of the later singles released by Jay's boyband.
"To be honest, The Wanted had a record out, We Own The Night. Up until that trip, you owned the night," he said.
Jay was visibly disheartened when subsequently talking to host Claudia Winkleman, and told her: "I'm really bad at speaking to you, I'm sorry."
Jay will be devastated to miss out on Blackpool next week
The routine scored Jay and Aliona 30 points, and viewers have rushed to defend him on Twitter. One said: "What a shocking score for @Jay &Aliona they so deserve better."
"6 for Jay from Craig is just ridiculous," another wrote, while a third raged: "Is Craig watching something else or is he just blind?"
Their fate will be revealed in the results show tomorrow night at 7:15pm.
