To meet the challenge of playing the character, the 19-year-old actress opted to wear completely opaque contact lenses when shooting most of the sixth series, which starts tomorrow on Sky Atlantic.
However, the Bristol-born actress has revealed she did use a second set with tiny pinholes when filming the epic battle scenes. “This series for Arya, now being blind, is a massive challenge. Little did I know that when you’re doing more than one shot the contact lenses get a lot more painful and your eyes get tired,” she said.

Maisie’s character was forced to drink a substance that removed her vision at the end of the last season as a punishment for disobeying The Faceless Men, a secret guild training her to be an assassin.
The launch of the new series is expected to cause a spike in energy demand as millions tune in.
British Gas analysis showed energy usage in the UK peaked last April just as the last series started.
