MasterChef final 2016: Viewers left emotional as winner is crowned
IT WAS an emotional night on MasterChef tonight as the winner of this year’s competition was crowned.
Jane wins Masterchef 2016
Mother-of-four Jane Devonshire won the coveted title after fighting it out with fellow finalists Billy Wright and Jack Layer.
At the start of the episode, the 50-year-old housewife revealed that she had overcome a 10-year battle with cancer.
Many people tuning in for the last episode of the culinary series took to social media to praise Jane after the results were announced, leading the programme to become one of the most talked-about topics on Twitter.
“What a stunning #MasterChef final! Mind blowing food and a fantastic & worthy winner! So emotional.. Loved this series,” This Morning presenter Phillip Schofield posted on Twitter.

Finalist Juanita Hennessey, who got knocked out in last night’s semi-final also celebrated the victory, posting a huge congratulations to Jane in capital letters.
Many other viewer praised Jane, with one person saying: “Crying a river. Well done Jane......you are the best #MasterChef.”

Jane cooked up a dish based on classic dishes she had as child, including a winkle sandwich, stewed rhubarb with custard and Rosmary-flavoured panna cotta.
Speaking after her victory, Jane said: “I’m so happy I can’t tell you! It’s one of the best euphoric moments, it’s just precious.
“My dad always says you don’t get something for nothing and you’ve got to work hard for it.
“I did that and I’m standing here now as the winner!”
