TV billing for Hugo’s Les Mis
DOMINIC WEST and Lily Collins appear in the first images from the BBC One adaptation of Les Miserables.
The six-part drama, penned by Pride And Prejudice and War And Peace screenwriter Andrew Davies, will also star David Oyelowo, Olivia Colman, Adeel Akhtar, Ellie Bamber and Josh O’Connor.
West will play Jean Valjean, while Collins will take on Fantine, the part that won Anne Hathaway an Oscar in the 2012 fi lm version.
Oyelowo will play Inspector Javert.
West and Oyelowo are executive producers on the series, to be adapted from Victor Hugo’s 1862 novel.
Collins plays the orphan abandoned by her baby’s father, turning to prostitution and selling her hair.
The first glimpse will be in a trailer around today’s World Cup final.
The series airs next year.
West, known for roles in The Wire and The Affair, said: “Jean Valjean is one of the great characters in literature.
“His journey of redemption is one of the extraordinary roles, and I can’t wait to bring Andrew’s brilliant adaptation to the screen.”
