Sunrisers Hyderabad confident of replacing injured India star
TOM MOODY believes he has a whole host of options in his squad to replace Ashish Nehra.
Sunrisers will be without Ashish Nehra and Kane Williamson for their second IPL clash
Sunrisers Hyderabad lost their first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) to Royal Challengers Bangalore in a high-scoring encounter at Chinnaswamy Stadium.
Captain Dave Warner's 58 was not enough to power Sunrisers to the 228 they required after AB de Villiers (82) and Virat Kohli (75) had piled on the runs in the first innings.
But the biggest blow came when fast bowler Nehra limped out of his third over after just one ball, unable to take any further part in the game.
And despite the injuries, the Australian coach is keen to ensure Sunrisers have enough depth in their batting to cope with all manner of conditions.
"One of the many reasons we were very keen to secure Deepak Hooda in the auction is that he gives us the option of a power hitter in the middle order, plus someone who can bowl off-spin," Moody added.
"If we want to go in with two spinners, we've got Bipul Sharma, who is bowling beautifully well and who had a good domestic season leading into this tournament."
