Pierre Gasly demands FIA chat after Lance Stroll vows to meet him 'in the parking lot'
Pierre Gasly has called for urgent talks with FIA chiefs ahead of the Hungarian Grand Prix.
F1: A lap of the British Grand Prix
Pierre Gasly has demanded talks with the FIA after being left baffled at the British Grand Prix. Lance Stroll appeared to overtake Gasly while he was off the track at the British Grand Prix with the FIA refusing to take action.
Later in the race tempers boiled over with the pair colliding at Club Corner. Stroll appeared to miss the apex after running wide at Vale before tapping Gasly and breaking his suspension.
After the race, Stroll pointed the finger directly at Gasly and suggested they should meet “in the parking lot”. Stroll was hit with a five-second penalty for the accident but Gasly has called for stewards to explain why they didn't issue further punishments.
He said: “Yeah, because you need, it's got to be crystal clear. We're racing at 350kph at the moment, which, you know, different situations. Last week we got penalised for stuff where we feel like we're not getting the warning properly.
“And this situation for me, as soon as I saw him going off the racetrack, I was like, he'll give the position back. And I spent three laps behind him, losing time in his gearbox where I should not be there. So, yeah, just asking for consistency. If that's a lot, fine. But it's got to be a lot for everyone."
The incident cost Gasly P11 and denied him any chance of fighting for points. However, the 27-year-old was more furious at Stroll's initial overtake as he suggested race officials were not being fair.
Gasly came dangerously close to facing a race ban last season after picking up 10 penalty points for a series of incidents.

One of those was making contact with Stroll’s Aston Martin at the Mexican Grand Prix. He added: “If you go off the racetrack you've got to give the position back.
“Just as simple as that. If you try and you see you've been off the racetrack, just give the position back. That's how I've been taught racing by the FIA. I've paid the price in different situations. It's just not fair not having that consistency.
“Now next race I'm supposing that going off the line, off the racetrack, overtaking someone is allowed. And then all of a sudden you're going to end up with a five-second penalty. I just can't understand. It just doesn't seem fair."
