Adrian Newey urged to snub Lewis Hamilton and link up with old rival in 'dream' F1 move
Adrian Newey has been widely tipped to join Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari.
Karun Chandhok has urged Adrian Newey to resist the temptation of joining Lewis Hamilton at Ferrari when he leaves Red Bull. The 65-year-old has reportedly decided that he wants to seek a new challenge after growing tired of the internal politics at Red Bull this year.
Newey, who is arguably the greatest technical mastermind in F1 history, has designed Red Bull's cars since joining the team in 2005. However, he is said to be unsettled in light of the saga involving Christian Horner, who was recently cleared over allegations of inappropriate behaviour towards a female colleague.
Red Bull's technical guru is tied down until the end of 2025, having signed a contract extension last May, but is thought to be confident of negotiating an exit that would allow him to leave before his deal runs out.
It remains to be seen where Newey will end up next, with Ferrari, Aston Martin and Mercedes thought to be keen on bringing him in. Reacting to the bombshell news on X, formerly Twitter, Chandhok suggested that Newey could seal his 'dream' move by teaming up with Fernando Alonso at Aston Martin.

"Imagine if we had Lewis at Ferrari, Max going to Mercedes and Adrian Newey going to Aston Martin with Fernando Alonso," wrote Chankhok. "Fans' dream! Just the shake up F1 would need to break the current dominant cycle."
Aston Martin are said to have already made an offer to Newey at the request of billionaire team owner Lawrence Stroll. It was reported earlier this year that a 'big money' contract was tabled but it is unclear if the proposed deal still stands.
Stroll is thought to be pressing ahead with his plan to develop Aston Martin into title contenders ahead of the new regulation cycle in 2026. Ferrari have also been mentioned as a potential destination for Newey after making several failed attempts to secure his services in the past.

Newey issued a coy response when quizzed on his future at the recent Japanese Grand Prix. He insisted that he was still eager to be involved in F1 but stopped short of confirming whether he would see out his career at Red Bull.
He said: "I enjoy it. Ever since I was 10 or so, certainly by 12, I wanted to be a designer. I don’t think I knew the word ‘engineer’. [I want to stay] in motor racing and ideally in Formula One. That's what I put all my teenage years towards.
"I managed to get that first job in motor racing when I graduated. I’ve hugely enjoyed it and I continue to enjoy it. So, I think as long as I continue to enjoy it and the team wants me then I’ll continue to do it for the moment and then we'll have to see in the future. I don't tend to plan too far forward."
