Lando Norris marked his dominant Dutch Grand Prix victory by celebrating with his rival's now-signature radio catchphrase, responding to race engineer Will Joseph by stating: "Simply lovely, huh?"

The McLaren star knew he needed to win at Max Verstappen's home race to ignite the title fight and he did just that, beating the three-time world champion by 20 seconds in front of a sold-out crowd.

Crossing the line, Norris teased his rival with his "simply lovely" catchphrase, but the Brit was also able to celebrate with an extra point after bagging the fastest lap of the race on the final tour of the Zandvoort circuit.

Shedding light on his thoughts after the chequered flag, Norris said: "It feels amazing. I wouldn't say a perfect race because of lap one again, but it was still beautiful.

"The pace was strong, the car was unbelievable. I could push and get past Max. It was a straightforward race. Tough but enjoyable."

Despite losing the lead at the start of the race to Verstappen, Norris wasn't worried. Asked when he knew that he could win, he replied: "From quite early on, from lap five, six or seven.

"I expected Max to start pushing and open up a gap and he never did. From that point, I felt we were in the fight. He seemed to keep dropping off and my pace was getting better. I could get comfortable and push."

The margin of victory was a true statement from Norris, who will head to the Italian Grand Prix next weekend targeting back-to-back wins as he looks to eat into Versatppen's championship lead.

Red Bull's star driver lost eight points to his title rival in Zandvoort, while McLaren made significant headway in the Constructors' Championship fight, reducing the arrears to 30 points with nine races still to come.
