German Grand Prix driver ratings: Hamilton fortunate, Vettel slips up, Magnussen unlucky
LEWIS HAMILTON enjoyed a huge stroke of luck to take an unlikely victory in the German Grand Prix, but how did his rivals perform at Hockenheim?
Lewis Hamilton pulled off a stunning victory in the German Grand Prix from 14th on the grid, sending him well clear in the Drivers’ Championship.
The 33-year-old was the only driver to employ a one-stop strategy, taking advantage of title rival Sebastian Vettel’s crash and the subsequent safety car.
Hamilton again enjoyed some good fortune when a communication mixup between himself and his engineers saw him abort an attempted pitstop and therefore avoid stacking up behind team-mate Valtteri Bottas.
Meanwhile, Vettel had looked in complete control of the race and was made to rue a small mistake in changeable conditions which sent him sliding into the barriers.
Elsewhere, Force India scored a double points finish while Brendon Hartley also notched a well-deserved tenth spot – but how did the rest of the grid perform?
