Barcelona target ‘new Lewandowski’ with scouts tipped to watch next Poland sensation
BARCELONA could send scouts to watch Poland forward Krzysztof Piatek in action during the international break.
Barcelona are said to be on the trail of Piatek, who only joined Italian side Genoa in the summer.
The 23-year-old former KS Cracovia player is yet to make an appearance for Poland’s first team.
But Piatek could get a run-out during the international break.
And Italian newspaper Il Secolo XIX claim Barcelona may send scouts along to watch Piatek in action.
The transfer window may have closed for the summer but Barcelona - like almost every top team in Europe - are always on the lookout for new recruits.
Poland play Italy in the UEFA Nations League on Friday, before hosting Ireland in a friendly next Tuesday.
Piatek has already scored three goals from his two Serie A appearances for Genoa.
He helped them edge past Empoli in their opening match of the season.
Piatek cost the Italian club £3.6m (€4m) this summer but already has suitors watching him.
SPORT reference a claim in Il Secolo XIX that Barcelona are on his trail, with Piatek being nicknamed the ‘new Lewandowski’ following his arrival on the European football scene.
He has been called up to the Poland squad and could get a run-out under manager Jerzy Brzeczek.
Bayern Munich’s Lewandowski is also in the squad, along with Arkadiusz Milik of Napoli.
