Man Utd vs Newcastle: United will CHANGE Jose Mourinho decision for one reason - pundit
MANCHESTER UNITED will SACK Jose Mourinho if the Red Devils lose this evening’s match against Newcastle.
That is the opinion of Sky Sports pundit and Southampton legend Matt Le Tissier.
Jose Mourinho is under severe pressure at Manchester United after a string of poor results.
United are winless in four in all competitions and have not won a home game since the opening day of the season.
They have already suffered three Premier League defeats and are out of the Carabao Cup after losing to second-tier Derby.
If they lose today against Newcastle United, you’d have to think that was it, even with what they’ve come out and said this morning
Newcastle are the visitors to Old Trafford today (5.30pm) with Rafa Benitez’s side still looking for their first win of the campaign.
Reports on Friday said Mourinho would be sacked this weekend regardless of the result against the Magpies but United denied this claim this morning.
However, Le Tissier believes a defeat today would see them change their mind and get rid of the Portuguese.
“Nothing surprises me in football,” Le Tissier said.
“You have people come out and give people votes of confidence and all of a sudden they’re gone.
“If they lose today against Newcastle United, you’d have to think that was it, even with what they’ve come out and said this morning.
“They obviously don’t expect to be losing this football match.
“But if they do, how will they carry on?
"How are they going to carry on?
“There is too much going on there behind the scenes and whatever for that to continue and for him to be able to turn that around and get Manchester United back to where they should be.
“I think that’s too difficult a job.”
Alexis Sanchez dropped to the bench for the match after once again struggling to make an impact in the 0-0 draw with Valencia on Tuesday.
