Aston Villa news: Six transfer deals Dean Smith and John Terry could consider
ASTON VILLA could be set for a crucial transfer window under the fresh management team of Dean Smith and John Terry.
Aston Villa have confirmed Dean Smith as Steve Bruce's successor with John Terry stepping into his first assistant manager role ahead of a busy time for the Championship side.
The Villains' new boss must start picking up the points straight away to stand any chance of inspiring a play-off push in 2018/19.
Smith and Terry have plenty of options at their disposal but will be able to strengthen the squad in January with a host of connections able to help them secure the finest talents.
Chelsea stars are already being linked with Villa, while Smith could raid his old club Brentford in search of reinforcements.
Take a look through the list below to reveal which players could interest Aston Villa under Dean Smith and John Terry.
Callum Hudson-Odoi (Chelsea)
Chelsea wonderkid Hudson-Odoi impressed in pre-season but hasn’t appeared since. He has already been linked with Villa.
Ollie Watkins (Brentford)
The menacing winger’s stock is rising, with Premier League clubs sniffing around him in the summer. Smith could put Villa in pole position.
Dominic Solanke (Liverpool)
The resurgence of Daniel Sturridge has severely curtailed Solanke’s development. He is yet to make an appearance this season and his Chelsea links could appeal to Terry.
Lucas Piazon (Chelsea)
Six seasons at Stamford Bridge have resulted in one first team appearance and five loan spells. He was terrific at Fulham last season and could be available for another temporary switch in January.
Scott McKenna (Aberdeen)
Villa had a £6.5million bid rejected by the Scottish Premiership side in the summer – could they return with an increased bid in January?
Neal Maupay (Brentford)
The Championship’s current top scorer has bagged 10 goals in 10 games and even recorded a trio of assists. He is set to be hot property.
