Man Utd news: Sky Sports pundits in SHOCK as Graeme Souness actually PRAISES Paul Pogba
MANCHESTER UNITED star Paul Pogba is often on the end of criticism from Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness.
However, Liverpool legend Souness gave credit where credit is due for Pogba’s first-half performance against Everton today.
Manchester United welcomed the Toffees to Old Trafford and led 1-0 at half time through Pogba.
The Frenchman saw a penalty saved by Everton keeper Jordan Pickford following his trademark slow run up, however he put in the rebound to save his blushes.
At half time, Jamie Redknapp claimed United star Anthony Martial was the standout performer in the first half.
I’d say Pogba’s been really good
“He’s been the best player on the pitch, Martial. Brilliant,” Redknapp said.
“Carried on from where he was last week.”
But Souness disagreed, responding: “I’d say Pogba’s been really good.”
Redknapp, ex-England right-back Alex Scott and Sky Sports presenter David Jones were clearly surprised with Souness’ comment.
“What? What? Are you sure?,” Redknapp was heard saying.
Souness was not impressed with Pogba’s stuttering run up for the penalty but was pleased with every other aspect of his game.
He continued: “Apart from this. I don’t like to see this.
“I personally think this is ‘look at me, look at me, I want to be in the spotlight’. I just don’t get this penalty.
“But I think he’s moved the ball quickly today, he’s been uncomplicated, like the pass for Martial to get the penalty. I think he’s been really good today.
“If he could do that week in week out, you’d be talking about him as a proper player.”
Scott was still surprised at Souness when continuing her half-time analysis.
“Why are you chuckling?” Souness asked her.
Scott responded: “Because of you complimenting Pogba there.”
And Jones ended the half time segment by saying: “I never thought I’d hear the day, Graeme Souness praising Paul Pogba.”
