Man Utd make Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decision: Club know when they want to appoint boss
MANCHESTER UNITED know when they are going to appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as permanent manager, according to a report.
Man United: Solskjaer HAS to get the job claims Robbie Savage
Manchester United have been on a supreme run of form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was appointed back in December.
Former boss Jose Mourinho was sacked following a poor run of results - as well as multiple fallouts with players.
Solskjaer was a surprise choice to take over but in doing so, the Norwegian has won 14 of his 18 games in charge, only losing twice.
And their first loss in the Premier League came on Sunday away at Arsenal, nearly three months after he took over.
Solskjaer has also steered United to the quarter finals of Champions League and the FA Cup.
And now, The Mirror are reporting that executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has made up his mind on the managerial vacancy.
Despite rumours that Woodward wanted to bring Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino to Old Trafford, Solskjaer will be given the full-time job.
The Mirror are also reporting that United want to make the announcement during the upcoming international break.
Man Utd: Solskjaer WILL be appointed permanently says Neville
The club wanted to wait until the end of the season at first, but with plenty of transfer work to get done in the summer, Woodward wants an imminent announcement.
The appointment, most will feel, is fully deserved, with Solskjaer having brought the club to heights supporters didn’t think they would see this season.
They were 11 points of fourth spot when Jose Mourinho was sacked, whereas they now sit two points off, in fifth place.
They were also written off when the Champions League last 16 draw was made and their opponents PSG were pulled out of the hat.
Despite losing the first leg at home 2-0, United turned it round at the Parc De Pricnes with a magnificent 3-1 victory.
That night will be seen as one of the great European exploits in United’s history - all thanks to Marcus Rashford’s late penalty.
Solskjaer's former club Molde are set to be paid a compensation packing of around £8m.
The Red Devils visit Wolves in the FA Cup this weekend for the chance to make it to a second successive FA Cup semi-final.
