Man Utd news: ‘He ticks the box’ - Paul Merson backs one summer signing
WATFORD midfielder Abdoulaye Doucoure would fit right in at Manchester United, says Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson.
Doucoure fuelled speculation over his future this week, confirming his intentions of playing in the Champions League.
The Frenchman says he is happy at Watford for now but wants to add titles to his CV.
Doucoure said; ”Everyone knows my ambition. I am playing football to win titles, to play with quality players.
"At Watford I am very happy, but the most important thing for me is to be focused on my performance.
He ticks the box for Man United, in my opinion
“In the summer if something happens with the club, we will see what happens.
"Playing in the Champions League is one of my dreams and a lot of the squad want to do it as well.
“I think I can do it in the next few years."
Merson is a fan of Doucoure and hopes a Premier League giant attempts to sign him.
And he reckons Manchester United would be a good move for all parties.
“I like this lad, I think he’s just saying the right things at the right time,” Merson said.
“He will definitely get a club.
“Winning the league? Not many teams can win the league, that’s the thing.
“Would he tick Man United’s [box]? All day long.
“You’d like to think that someone over here rates him highly enough to buy him.
“I’d be shocked if like Juventus came in.
“He ticks the box for Man United, in my opinion.”
