Ryan Kent drew Rangers level midway through the second half with a strong finish past Scott Bain but James Forrest struck late to secure victory.
The match was marred by a number of flashpoint and tempers boiled over after the final whistle, but the win leaves Celtic 13 points clear at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Express Sport have rated how the Rangers players performed during their clash with Celtic, but do you agree?
Rangers player ratings vs Celtic – Scottish Premiership
GK: Allan McGregor – 8
Dodgy handling early on but then made a host of excellent saves to keep his side in the match, including stops from Olivier Ntcham and Kieran Tierney.
RB: James Tavernier - 5
Was having a solid game until his misplaced pass let Celtic in for the winner.
CB: Connor Goldson – 7
Handled Edouard well for the most part and was resolute after Rangers were reduced to 10 men.
CB: Ross McCrorie – 7
Battled well throughout and wasn’t afraid to get stuck in when the tempers flared.
Couple of important interceptions and can be pleased with his display, if not the result.
LB: Joe Worrall – 6
Punished when he backed off Edouard but did well under immense pressure in the second half.
CM: Ryan Jack – 6
Missed one glorious chance to score after good work from Kent and relished the ongoing battle with Scott Brown.
CM: Scott Arfield - 8
Appears to raise his game for the Old Firm and was a tenacious, harrying presence in the visitor’s midfield.
CM: Andy Halliday – 7
Wears his heart on his sleeve and was guilty of diving in on occasions as he looked to make an impact on the game.
Isolated late on and went in the book for a cynical hack on Edouard then lost his cool with Brown after the final whistle.
RAM: Daniel Candeias – 6
A difficult game for the Spaniard to show his skills with Candeias afforded little time on the ball.
Played some nice stuff in the build up to Kent’s equaliser.
LAM: Ryan Kent – 8
Rangers’ best attacking threat, with the Liverpool loanee causing a nuisance of himself with strong running and an eye for goal.
Finished well when given his chance and didn’t deserve to be on the losing side.
ST: Alfredo Morelos – 2
A liability, with the Colombian losing his head and lashing out at Brown midway through the first half.
Left the referee with no choice but to send him off and dropped his team-mates in a whole world of trouble.
