Dundee ace Graham Dorrans explains why it was easy to leave Rangers
The Scotland international left Ibrox earlier this month after falling out of favour with Steven Gerrard.
Graham Dorrans admits it was a no brainer for him to leave Rangers.
The former West Brom midfielder was released by Rangers last month after an injury-plagued season.
Dorrans had fallen into Gerrard’s bad books before leaving Glasgow and ended the 2018-19 campaign with a paltry three appearances to his name.
The 32-year-old joined Dundee on a one-year deal last week and made his debut in their 1-0 defeat to Greenock Morton last Saturday.
As much as it was a tough decision to leave Rangers it wasn’t really
Although his Dundee career got off to a bad start, Dorrans is happy to be back playing first-team football and doesn’t lament his decision to end his nightmare stay at Ibrox.
He said: "It was tough but I had to get out and play football. I’m 32 and I’ve got ambitions to play as high as possible. It was never easy to leave but it was the right decision.
"As much as it was a tough decision to leave Rangers it wasn’t really.
"I want to be back playing football and enjoying it. I’ve missed a lot of games through injuries and missed the buzz of playing football."
So bad was his relationship with Gerrard, Dorrans didn’t even have a conversation with the Scouser before he left the club.
When asked if he’d spoken to the Liverpool legend before his exit, he replied: “No.”
Dorrans and his Dundee team-mates will be back in action on Friday evening, travelling to Dumfries to take on Queen of the South.
Rangers, meanwhile, will travel to the Almondvale Stadium on Wednesday night to take on Livingston in the Scottish League Cup.
