Sam’s a big Franco fan
BLACKBURN boss Sam Allardyce has resigned himself to losing Franco Di Santo in January.
Argentine striker Di Santo, 20, has impressed since joining Rovers on loan from Chelsea last month – and he started ahead of Benni McCarthy and Jason Roberts as Blackburn beat Aston Villa 2-1 at Ewood Park on Saturday.
Allardyce had hoped to extend Di Santo’s loan but he expects Chelsea to recall him in January after the west London club were hit with a transfer ban. Allardyce said: “Franco has contributed a huge amount, Chelsea wanted to find out if he is good enough for the Premier League. If he continues to play like he did on Saturday then he will be great for us while he is here.”
