Man Utd line up if Mauricio Pochettino replaces Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and signs three stars
Manchester United could replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with former Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino.
Man Utd: ‘It’s maybe time’ to get Pochettino says Leboeuf
Manchester United are reportedly willing to sack Ole Gunnar Solskjaer unless results improve. And, if the club continue to struggle, then Mauricio Pochettino could be given the chance to take over. Express Sport now takes a look at how the Red Devils could line up with the Argentine as their boss.
Goalkeeper: David De Gea
While Dean Henderson’s stature is growing at United, Pochettino would likely place his faith in David De Gea.
The Spain international is a leader at the club, being one of two players left from the Sir Alex Ferguson era.
And when a new manager comes in, they can’t tear up the rulebook.
De Gea, on his day, is one of the best goalkeepers on the planet.
United have been keen to stand by the 29-year-old and there’s no reason for that to change just yet. If he makes a few more mistakes, however, then it could be a different story.

Defence: Wan-Bissaka, Maguire, UPAMECANO, Shaw
Pochettino managed Luke Shaw during his time at Southampton and could select the England international over Alex Telles and Brandon Williams as a result.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka would continue to start, as well as Harry Maguire.
But United have interest in Dayot Upamecano and there’s no reason why Pochettino would pull the plug on any potential move.
The RB Leipzig star is one of the most-promising defensive prospects in world football.
And United will see him up close when they tackle the Bundesliga giants in the Champions League later this month.

Midfield: Pogba, Fernandes, Fred
Pochettino would likely do the same as Solskjaer when it comes to Paul Pogba: start him over Donny van de Beek.
The France international remains an enigma at Old Trafford but, when fully fit and firing on all cylinders, he’s undroppable.
United could play Fred alongside the former Juventus star to add steel and bite to their midfield, while his technical qualities could be useful at both ends of the pitch.
And Fernandes would have start, too.
Pochettino nearly signed the midfielder during his time at Tottenham and would likely relish the chance to manage him at Old Trafford.
Premier League done deals: Every confirmed transfer in the summer window
Man Utd managers since Sir Alex Ferguson left
David Moyes - July 2013 to April 2014 - sacked after failing to secure Champions League qualification
Louis van Gaal - July 2014 to May 2016 - won the FA Cup but sacked after missing out on the top four
Jose Mourinho - May 2016 to December 2018 - won the EFL Cup and Europa League but sacked with Europe in the balance
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer - December 2018 (interim) to present day - secured the top four last season but could now be axed
Forwards: SANCHO, KANE, Rashford
Marcus Rashford has struggled for consistency since returning from injury in January but he’s United’s golden boy, and therefore wouldn’t be moved on.
But Pochettino could try and sign Harry Kane as an upgrade on Anthony Martial.
Martial has done well under Solskjaer but Kane is a level above, one of the best strikers in the whole of world football.
And Pochettino could try and sign Jadon Sancho, too.
United’s board remain admirers of the Borussia Dortmund star and he’d like a move to Old Trafford, despite missing out on one this summer.
