Alan Shearer puts pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer despite Man Utd matching FA Cup record
Manchester United equalled a club record ninth successive home win in the FA Cup with Tuesday's extra-time win over West Ham

Manchester United secured an FA Cup quarter-final place with Tuesday's win over West Ham - but afterwards Alan Shearer piled the pressure on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. United's ninth successive home win in the competition matched a feat the club set in 1912, but Shearer says it means nothing unless they improve on their recent record in semi-finals.
United needed extra time to beat the Hammers on Tuesday, with Scott McTominay firing in the only goal of the game in the 98th minute.
The result was a welcome boost for the Red Devils after their Premier League title challenge was dented by Everton's last-gasp equaliser on Saturday.
Solskjaer's side certainly won't be giving up on catching rivals Manchester City in their bid for a first top-flight crown in eight years.
But Tuesday's win means they are just two wins away from a Wembley cup final place, with the draw for the quarter-finals set to take place on Thursday.
While a ninth straight Old Trafford win in the competition is impressive, Shearer said United must now turn encouraging cup runs into silverware - after being knocked out of four semi-finals in the past 13 months.

"Yeah it's progress," said Shearer, talking to BBC Sport. "They got to four semi-finals with Ole but they need to get to a final now and win a tournament."
United lost 2-0 to neighbours City in last month's one-legged EFL Cup semi-final, ending a potential route to silverware this season.
It was a repeat of the last-four clash in the same competition a year before, when Pep Guardiola's side triumphed 3-2 on aggregate despite a 1-0 win for United in the second leg.
In between those two semi-finals, Solskjaer's side also reached the last-four stages of last season's FA Cup and Europa League - but were beaten in both, by Chelsea and Sevilla respectively.

The FA Cup quarter-finals will take place on the weekend of March 20, with the draw scheduled to take place before Chelsea's fifth-round visit to Barnsley this Thursday.
Before focusing on the cup competitions, though, United will look to get their title challenge back on track with a visit to West Brom on Sunday.
