Man Utd 'made desperate Cristiano Ronaldo attempt’ to spoil Man City transfer
Manchester United legend Cristiano Ronaldo looks set to join Manchester City.
Ronaldo 'agrees transfer' with Man City ahead of Premier League return
Manchester United made an attempt to sign Cristiano Ronaldo in the night, it has been claimed. Widespread reports have suggested the Red Devils have no interest in the Juventus star. But, now, conflicting messages are starting to emerge.
Manchester United previously told Express Sport earlier in the year that they had no plans to bring Ronaldo back to the club.
Yet, now, they’re facing the horrendous prospect of seeing him playing for Manchester City instead.
A move to the Etihad Stadium appears to be on the cards, with Pep Guardiola turning his attentions to the 36-year-old in the wake of Harry Kane’s decision to stay at Tottenham.
Yet while United don’t appear to be in for Ronaldo, Italian journalist Alfredo Medulla has claimed they made a ‘desperate attempt’ to sign him last night.
“#Ronaldo-#City: ready offer to #Juve. And that desperate attempt #United in the night,” he said.

United have long dreamed of signing Ronaldo again.
But, in 2021, it just doesn’t seem feasible.
United have already blown the bulk of their summer transfer budget on deals for Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, who arrived from Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively.
And they’d rather land a midfielder instead, now, with Ruben Neves and Eduardo Camavinga two possibilities.
Ronaldo has previously said he won’t play for City.

But the Portugal international now appears to have performed a U-turn and is open to moving to the Etihad Stadium.
Today, Ronaldo has said goodbye to his Juventus team-mates as he looks to leave Turin behind.
And a sensational return to the Premier League appears to be on the cards, with City confident a deal will be done.
That won’t please Wayne Rooney, who recently suggested his old team-mate wouldn’t betray United fans with such a move.
“I don’t know what to make of it, to be honest,” said the current Derby boss.
“If you’re asking me if I think it’s possible then I have major doubts that it is a possibility.
“Cristiano has got a great legacy at United. I don’t think he’s going to move somewhere for financial reasons.”
Speaking to talkSPORT, Rooney also insisted he could never play for Liverpool or Manchester City himself.
“I think Cristiano has got a very good legacy at Manchester United and I know how proud he is as a player and a person,” he said.
“I can’t see it, but it’s football so you never know.
“I think you need to do what’s right for you as a person, for your family.
“Everyone knows I could never play for Liverpool or Manchester City. That’s obvious but everyone’s different.
“I think people move to clubs where they don’t really want to but from a financial point of view that might be the only option they have, so I might get it from some people’s point of view.
“But in terms of myself that just wouldn’t be an option.”
