Liverpool will still manage to finish second in the Premier League table this season, claims ex-Reds striker Rickie Lambert. Jurgen Klopp's side currently sit 14 points behind leaders Arsenal after Sunday's 3-2 loss at the Emirates.

Liverpool are 10th in the table, though have a game in hand over some teams above them. They have won just one of their first eight matches of the season which has led to some questioning the long-term future of Klopp.
Manchester City are strong favourites to win a fifth title in six seasons despite Arsenal currently sitting a point clear of the defending champions. But Lambert can see Liverpool going on a long winning run at some point this season and has warned Mikel Arteta's side of how difficult it is to compete with City.
He told talkSPORT: "This is probably the first time that [Klopp] might have made a mistake not bringing anyone in [the summer window]. So again I don't want to criticise too much because I think the way they've competed against Man City is beyond belief, to be honest. It's beyond belief.

"The fact that we're off the pace this year is a little bit worrying but understandable. I think we will come back, I think we will finish second.
"We are more than capable of winning 10, 15 games on the bounce. I think Arsenal have started brilliantly but I think they will realise how hard it is to get over 90 points, which I think Man City are going to easily do again."
Lambert says Liverpool's poor form is down to the amount of high-profile matches they played last season, as well as the number of injuries they have suffered. But he is confident they will turn it around soon.
He added: “There are a few reasons why we are struggling at the minute. They are still feeling last year with the amount of games played.

“We’ve had a few injuries. Klopp has even admitted it now that we should have strengthened in the midfield.
“That’s why we are struggling at the minute. The energy isn’t there and the defenders are not getting as much protection.
“I think there are reasons why we are struggling, but I’m more than confident Liverpool will come good sooner or later.”
