Axe falls so quickly
FOOTBALL chairmen are busy pleading for sanity and stability while wielding the axe ever more frequently according to statistics from the League Managers Association.
There were 51 managerial changes last season, including 36 sackings – up roughly 10 per cent on the season before. And the average tenure was one year and 146 days, the lowest “life expectancy” ever.
LMA chief executive Richard Bevan continues to impress his members, though.
“With coaches as well, they are currently working on more than 50 compensation cases,” one recent victim revealed. “But you always feel yours is the most important.”
