Man Utd 'expect transfer breakthrough this weekend' as Ten Hag target gives green light
Erik ten Hag will be delighted by the news.
Andre Onana linked with Man Utd and Chelsea move
Andre Onana has reportedly given a move to Man Utd this summer the green light. The Cameroonian shot-stopper is apparently keen on joining the Red Devils as they continue their push to sign him.
According to ESPN, although personal terms are yet to be reached with the player, Onana is said to be keen on the transfer and United remain hopeful they can make a breakthrough in negotiations this weekend. The English giants recently improved their initial bid of £38.7m to £42.7m, although Inter are understood to be looking for a fee of around £50m and aren't expected to accept the second offer.
Erik ten Hag has only been given a summer transfer budget of £120m to play with and has already spent half of it on acquiring the services of Mason Mount. The Dutchman is in desperate need of a new goalkeeper following the recent departure of long-serving No 1 David de Gea.
Ten Hag is said to have lost faith in the Spaniard and is looking for a new keeper who is better suited to his style of play. Although De Gea recorded the most clean sheets out of any goalkeeper in the Premier League last season with 17 and is an excellent shot-stopper, there are concerns about his ability with the ball at his feet.
Ten Hag prefers his goalkeepers to play the ball from out of the back and doesn't think De Gea has what it takes to fulfil those duties. Onana is already used to Ten Hag's system having played under him at his former club Ajax and is seen as the ideal replacement.
If United can't capture Onana then Brighton's Robert Sanchez, Brentford's David Raya, Frankfurt's Kevin Trapp and Justin Bijlow of Feyenoord have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Ten Hag is also in the market for a new striker and is actively pursuing Atalanta's Rasmus Hojlund. The 20-year-old is expected to cost somewhere in the region of £85m and so United will have to offload several players this summer to recoup funds for the transfer.
Harry Maguire, Fred, Scott McTominay and Jadon Sancho are expected to depart in the next two weeks as Ten Hag looks to kickstart a badly needed streamlining of the Man Utd squad in the hopes of mounting a challenge for the Premier League title next season.
