World Cup all over for Ledley King
LEDLEY King's World Cup was all but over last night after he added to Fabio Capello’s defensive problems by being ruled out for up to three weeks.
Tottenham centre-back King damaged his groin in the opening minutes of the 1-1 draw with the USA on Saturday.
He is definitely out of Friday’s crucial game with Algeria in Cape Town and looks certain to miss the final Group C match with Slovenia on June 23.
If England progress from their group, he would also be struggling for the last-16 game.
Jamie Carragher, who replaced King and was quickly booked, will now be the obvious candidate to partner John Terry, but Matthew Upson and uncapped Michael Dawson will also be considered.
