Ryan Reynolds hands Wrexham hero a Deadpool cameo as eagled-eyed fans spot star
With Wrexham's star continuing to rise globally, it appears that Ryan Reynolds may have pulled some strings to give one forward a shot at Marvel stardom.
Wrexham fans have theorised that promotion hero Ollie Palmer has a cameo appearance in club chairman Ryan Reynolds' next blockbuster after seeing the trailer for the movie. The Hollywood superstar sent the rumour mill into overdrive with his coy comments on social media about the speculation surrounding 'Deadpool 3'.
Marvel enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the release of the next installment in the popular series, with the film starring Reynolds and Hugh Jackman as Deadpool and Wolverine, respectively. However, it is likely that fans of the Red Dragons will also be flocking to cinemas to catch a glimpse of club icon Palmer making his big screen debut.
Having already played his part in securing back-to-back promotions for the Welsh outfit with five goals in 36 appearances across the campaign, fans are convinced they spotted Palmer in a very different guise in a scene in the teaser. Set for release on July 26, members of the Racecourse Ground faithful believe Palmer was loitering in the background of a shot featuring Wolverine and Deadpool in the trailer clip.
Reynolds posted a video on his Instragram with the caption: "Found the guy who killed Bambi's mom," to which Palmer replied: "If you squint [laughing emoji]," before Reynolds was on hand once more to all but confirm the cameo to a fan on Twitter/X who had asked about rumours that the Wrexham ace had starred in the film, adding: "Keen eyesight."

Reynolds has previously spoken of his unlikely bond with the Dragons cult hero Palmer, with the Hollywood actor having been charmed by the player's down-to-earth approach to life. Describing their friendship on the Fearless in Devotion podcast, he joked: "Ollie is always the first guy that walks out of that dressing room completely shirtless to have a conversation with my wife."
Giving some insight into the player's personality and devotion to the Wrexham cause, the funnyman continued: "Ollie is one of the best guys we know ... also one of the funniest guys I know. That dressing room is filled with people whose integrity matches their abilities on the field."
Wrexham, meanwhile continue their sterling rise through the football pyramid, having already secured their passage to the third tier for next season. Sitting third in League Two, their heroics this term follow on from their promotion from the National League at the 15th attempt last season.
