Liverpool fans make feelings clear over selling Darwin Nunez this summer
Liverpool star Darwin Nunez has been tipped to follow Jurgen Klopp out of the Anfield exit at the end of the season.
Liverpool supporters believe that Darwin Nunez should remain at the club beyond this summer, according to an Express Sport poll. The forward has come under criticism this season for squandering big chances which may have been decisive in the title race.
Nunez has scored 11 goals and assisted eight in 33 appearances so far this season, though those figures could have been markedly improved if the forward showed more composure in the final third.
The Uruguay international missed big chances against West Ham and, in particular, Everton last week when Liverpool dropped points and consequently threw away their chances of winning the Premier League in Jurgen Klopp’s final campaign in the Anfield dugout.
With Arne Slot set to succeed the ex-Borussia Dortmund boss next season and Richard Hughes and Michael Edwards preparing to orchestrate a major rebuild on Merseyside, questions have been raised about whether Liverpool could be tempted to cut their losses on Nunez and sign a new striker.

However, 51 per cent of Express Sport readers voted in favour of retaining the services of the 24-year-old and giving him another opportunity to prove his worth in the Premier League. With 49 per cent of entrants pushing for Nunez to be sold, the jury is certainly out on the forward.
Liverpool are expected to splash the cash on new signings at the end of the season, and acquiring the services of fresh faces in the final third cannot be ruled out – especially if Mohamed Salah or Luis Diaz depart. Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Borussia Dortmund playmaker Donyell Malen are among those linked.
But ex-Reds star Graeme Souness does not believe that his former side will be in the market for a Nunez replacement. He told the Up Front podcast: “That will be my worry.
“Nunez will be there next year, they won’t sell him. He does all the hard yards, all the hard work, all the selflessness without the ball. He is 10 out of 10 in everything. But he is four out of 10 in terms of scoring goals. Salah doesn’t do anything like that in terms of the hard yards but he is 25 goals a year, if they lose him next year that’s something you will find very hard to replace.”
