Harry Kane injured in Euros nightmare as England star struggles with 'everyday movements'
Harry Kane will miss Bayern Munich's final Bundesliga game of the season through injury.
Harry Kane is struggling with “everyday movements” due to a back injury that will cause concern to England manager Gareth Southgate. The striker will miss Bayern Munich’s final game of the Bundesliga season against Hoffenheim on Saturday.
Kane may face a race against time to be fit to captain the Three Lions at Euro 2024 this summer. Although the tournament is being played in Germany, the 30-year-old will likely be expected to take part in domestic friendlies against Bosnia and Iceland in early June.
He will therefore travel from Germany to England before making the trip back as part of the squad, who will stay in Gelsenkirchen for the first part of the tournament. Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel has revealed that Kane has been struggling with the back problem for some time.
Tuchel said: "Harry is getting treatment from his personal doctor. He can't travel. He was already at the limit in Madrid. He had a complete blockade in his back, it's gotten worse and bothers him in everyday movements."
Southgate is expected to name a preliminary squad for Euro 2024 on Tuesday. The England boss will therefore be in close contact with Kane to ensure that his star man is fit enough to be included.
The Three Lions face friendlies against Bosnia and Iceland on June 3 and 7, respectively. They will then travel to their Gelsenkirchen base in Germany.
England begin their Euro 2024 against Serbia at Schalke’s Veltins Arena on June 16. They then face further Group C matches against Denmark and Slovenia.
Meanwhile, Kane will have a new manager at Bayern after Tuchel revealed that he will follow through on an earlier promise to leave this summer. Reports suggested that Bayern may U-turn on a February announcement that the former Chelsea boss will depart.
However, Tuchel has explained that an agreement with the Bavarians has not been reached. Bayern are set to finish second in the Bundesliga behind unbeaten champions Bayer Leverkusen, ending a run of 11 consecutive titles.
Bayern also reached the Champions League semi-finals where they were dramatically knocked out by Real Madrid. “This is my last press conference at Sabener Strasse,” Tuchel said on Friday.
“There were talks, but we didn't reach an agreement. So the decision of February still stands.”
