Neal Maupay has taken aim at the England national team ahead of the Euros this summer. The striker has an ever-growing reputation for being one of the biggest wind-ups in the Premier League, and he does not appear to have any intention of losing that title.
Maupay enjoyed a promising return to Brentford on loan last season, scoring six and assisting three in 31 appearances, and his off-field antics ensured that is what a stint to remember.
The ex-Brighton star enjoyed several feuds, that were light-hearted in the eyes of Maupay, with the likes of James Maddison and darts star Luke Littler, and the 27-year-old now looks set to make an enemy of the entire England squad.
Speaking ahead of the Euros, Maupay claimed that it will never ‘come home’ and insisted that he hopes that France meets the Three Lions in the final of the competition. He told L’Equipe: “The English are very confident but they also have quite a bit of pressure because they have been announced as the favourites in the past few tournaments.
“They want to win a trophy and they have excellent players but there is so much pressure on the manager because the English media are portraying it as the last-chance saloon for him.
“The problem in England is that they have so many great players in attack and in midfield but the names are less flamboyant in defence, [even if] they are still accomplished Premier League players.

“The English always hold a grudge against France, regardless. That isn’t anything new, it doesn’t just stem from the last World Cup.
“They thought they should have beaten us [in 2022] and they think we were lucky. They’ve had that slogan ‘It’s coming home’ for so many years and I tell them that it never will. It’s funny and we tease each other about it.

“They have a great team so it would be nice to have an England-France final. After France win, I’ll celebrate and I’ll perhaps be fired by my club but it’s fine, we would have won the Euros.”
England will certainly head to Germany with plenty of confidence, with the likes of Phil Foden, Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham all widely regarded as some of the best players in the world and who are capable of guiding the nation to glory at last.
