Jose Mourinho wants to reunite with Mason Greenwood at Fenerbahce this summer as Manchester United prepare to sell the striker, according to reports. But the Portuguese coach may face disappointment following claims that Greenwood has already green-lit a transfer to another European giant.

Earlier this week, Mourinho signed a two-year contract at Fenerbahce, tasked with guiding the club to their first Turkish title since 2014.

The Yellow Canaries will also enter Champions League qualifying next month, so their new boss is keen to upgrade the squad he inherited.

According to The Sun, Mourinho has identified Greenwood as an option to add attacking firepower to his ranks ahead of his expected United departure.

The pair worked together at Old Trafford in 2018 when Mourinho selected the then-16-year-old in his pre-season squad that travelled to the United States.

Nicky Butt, working for the club's academy at the time, later revealed that the ex-United manager had identified Greenwood's potential when he was 15.

The 61-year-old requested to take a closer look at him in senior training before being told he couldn't because he had school.

Six years later, Mourinho reportedly wants them to join forces again at Fenerbahce, but Greenwood is said to have other ideas as he weighs up his future.

The report adds that the 22-year-old isn't keen on working with Mourinho amid heavyweight interest from elsewhere in Europe.

Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and Napoli have all been touted as suitors following Greenwood's season-long loan at Getafe.

He registered 10 goals and six assists in 36 appearances after joining the La Liga side on deadline day last summer.

Greenwood's performances in his comeback season after missing 18 months of football are also said to have caught the attention of several Premier League clubs.

But The Sun suggest that United are looking for around £50million for the academy graduate, which could be outside of most interested parties' budget.

Fenerbahce's interest could be a non-starter anyway if recent further reports are anything to go by.

On Friday, La Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Greenwood had already said yes to a summer switch to Juventus.

United want to sell their former No. 11 rather than send him out on another loan and trigger the one-year extension in his contract.

And Turin could very well be his destination if new Juve boss Thiago Motta sanctions a pursuit as part of his quest to reclaim the Serie A title.
