Manchester United and Erik ten Hag face a tricky start to the 2024/25 season, despite beginning the campaign at home to Fulham. The Red Devils kickstart another year of Premier League action on a Friday night and will be desperate to claim all three points after an underwhelming eighth-placed finish last time out.
Ten Hag will be wary despite feeling confident at home to Fulham, having lost to Marco Silva’s outfit at Old Trafford in February thanks to a 97th-minute Alex Iwobi effort, as trickier fixtures soon follow.
In just the third league game of the new season, United host arch-rivals Liverpool in Arne Slot’s first visit to Old Trafford. A 2-2 draw in the same fixture in April put a major dent in the Reds’ title hopes but Ten Hag and co will be hoping to go one better on the final day of August.
The first Manchester derby of the season takes place on December 14, when United travel to the Etihad. The reverse fixture sees Pep Guardiola’s side travel to Old Trafford on April 5, two key dates to stick in the diary.
United end the season at home to Aston Villa, but not before a touch penultimate away day to Stamford Bridge, two matches that could well decide each team’s European and perhaps title hopes for the following season.
