Enzo Maresca is set to make another signing at Che (Image: Getty)
New Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has seemingly been given the go-ahead to make the club’s sixth signing of the summer. Despite the apparent concerns over profit and sustainability regulations, it’s been another frenzied transfer window so far at Stamford Bridge, with owner Todd Boehly backing his new man.
And Maresca is not set to sign another South American star following his move from Leicester this summer.
According to reports, Boca Juniors defender Aaron Anselmino has agreed personal terms ahead of a medical and a £14million move.
The 19-year-old Argentinian is expected to sign a six-year deal with the London club, although will remain with Boca as a loan player until January. He only made his senior professional debut in June 2023, but has already been touted as a future star after just 10 first-team appearances.
His versatility is also likely to have appealed to Chelsea, with the teenager equally adept at centre back or in midfield. And his potential has been lauded by club president Juan Roman Riquleme, who won 51 caps for his country at international level.
"He has developed a lot,” he told reporters. "With the growth, the head that he has and the desire to learn that he shows, he is on his way to being a great footballer. He is going to be a player for the national team. He is going to compete with the centre-backs."

Another teenage sensation from South America, Estevao Willian, was then confirmed to be joining in a £48m move from Palmeiras. The 17-year-old winger will remain in Brazil until 2025 though, initially set to continue his development in Brazil.
Aston Villa midfielder Omari Kellyman has also joined from £19m, another player seemingly purchased on potential having only turned 18 last September. Spanish striker Marc Guiu is the same age, and joined from Barcelona this week for £5m.
