Gary Lineker left the BBC studio in stitches during Portugal's Euro 2024 clash against France by dropping an unexpected joke about Cristiano Ronaldo's penis. The Beeb presenter made a bizarre 'third leg' comment about Ronaldo while the Portuguese captain received treatment before extra-time.

Portugal and France played a tense 0-0 draw in normal time at the Volksparkstadion, forcing extra-time in a second successive Euro 2024 quarter-final.

Ronaldo, characteristically, stayed on the pitch for extra time and received strong attention from two masseuses ahead of kick-off.

As Lineker discussed the first 90 minutes with Rio Ferdinand, Jermaine Jenas and Jose Fonte, he asked the latter about his experience lifting Euro 2016.

Lineker prompted a response by telling Fonte: "In 2016, when you won the Euros, you had six draws after 90 minutes... But it doesnt matter if you win it! They do find a way."

Ferdinand interrupted the 63-year-old with two "boring" comments aimed at the nature of Portugal's success in France eight years ago.

The former Manchester United and England defender then pointed out the BBC broadcast showing Ronaldo sat on the pitch receiving a massage on both legs ahead of extra time.

He said: "He has two masseuses on his legs there! What's going on there?! One on each leg!"

The Three Lions are among the favourites to win this summer's Euro 2024 tournament and you can get your hands on the brand new Nike home and away kits before the first whistle.

Lineker then caused laughter among his fellow pundits by cheekily quipping: "Thankfully, he hasn't got three!"

Fonte, who wasn't among those who couldn't hide their humour over the crude joke, was patiently awaiting his moment to respond to Lineker's previous point, asking: "Can I?"

The comment out of nowhere also caught viewers by surprise, with many taking to social media to check if they had heard him correctly.

Ronaldo's massages seemingly worked a trick as the freakish 39-year-old athlete continued to lead the Portugal line for the entirety of extra-time.

Portugal and France were battling it out for a spot in the Euro 2024 semi-finals after Spain, on their side of the draw, dumped out hosts Germany earlier in the day.

Dani Olmo fired the Spaniards ahead in Stuttgart before Florian Wirtz produced an 89th-minute equaliser to rescue his nation.

But it ultimately only earned Germany a stay of execution, as Olmo's pinpoint cross provided the assist for an acrobatic Mikel Merino header in the 119th minute.

Saturday will showcase the two quarter-finals from the other side of the draw, starting with England vs Switzerland in Dusseldorf. Berlin will then play host to the Netherlands vs Turkiye.
