Ashley Young’s a diamond geezer
ASHLEY YOUNG insists Manchester United’s new diamond formation won’t drive him out of the club.
Sir Alex Ferguson is using the new shape to accommodate his strikers, which means a team without wingers.
Now Young, 27, who joined United from Aston Villa for £17.5m in 2011, is struggling to establish himself as a regular this term.
But Young said: “I’m a versatile player and can operate in a number of different positions, so I’m comfortable with whatever formation the manager picks. I think that’s the same for quite a few of the players at this club. We are able to adapt easily.”
But he added: “When I was at Villa, I barely missed a match so I’ve found being out difficult to take.”
