Rio only has bruised foot
RIO FERDINAND received a boost last night when scans revealed he had not broken a bone in his foot, but the Manchester United defender is still facing a spell on the sidelines.
There were fears that Ferdinand had become the latest player to suffer a broken metatarsal after limping off in the 2-2 draw at Middlesbrough on Sunday.
But it is understood that Ferdinand has bad bruising, which will rule him out of tomorrow’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against Roma and, possibly, the Premier League clash with Arsenal on Sunday.
United are already without defender Nemanja Vidic, who has a knee injury. Gerard Pique is set to replace Ferdinand tomorrow.
